My Experience of Christ in the Full-Time Training, J.Y.

I came to attend the Full-Time Training in Anaheim (FTTA) in August 2001. Witness Lee, a gospel preacher and minister of the Word from China, founded the FTTA as a place where Christians could come to be trained and constituted in the truth and in the experience of Christ in their daily living. Like others who have attended the FTTA, my view in being trained was not that I would go out and pastor a congregation somewhere, but that I would be equipped to serve my local church and function as a normal member of the Body of Christ.

In the FTTA, I have begun to experience God in a new and living way. Of course, I had a personal relationship with the Lord before I came to the FTTA, but it was definitely a relationship like one would have with a friend who lived in another city--a friend whom I would call long-distance from time to time. But through being immersed in the truths of the Bible, in the enjoyment of Christ, and through reading the books of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, I have attained to a deeper and more substantial experience of Christ. I know that, despite what I have seen and touched, my experience of the Lord is still shallow, and that I have a long road ahead of me in the Christian race. But I feel that the two years that I have spent in the FTTA, reading the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, have trained me how to be supplied to run that race. Before coming to the FTTA, I didn't hold much hope that I could finish the course set before me. In the FTTA, however, I have experienced Christ in me, the hope of glory, as Colossians1:27 states. I have hope not because I think I have the ability to run the race and finish the course, but because I have seen God and I believe in what He can do.

I really thank the Lord that I came into contact with the local churches and the ministry books of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, and through that, with the FTTA. I have met with a number of different Christian denominations, and I have enjoyed a vital fellowship with many other believers while involved with those groups. However, through the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, I have come not only to love and know the Lord, but also to enjoy Him and experience Him every day.
